Novice & Casual Fleet

Novice & Casual Dinghy Racing

Monthly race days aimed at sailors with little experience and those who prefer a more casual approach to sailing.  These tend to be short races starting from 11:00 and continuing through to 15:00 with a break for lunch.  All sailors are given a warm welcome and encouraged to attend irrespective of their level of experience; it is great to see adults, children and families enjoying these sessions.

Sessions are generally on the first Saturday of each month from May to September, please check the Club Events calendar on the Home Page.

Novice & Casual Dinghy Informal Sailing

Due to the popularity of the Novice & Casual Race Days, OSC is experimenting with providing patrol boat cover on the majority of Saturday afternoons between mid-April and November to encourage novice and experienced sailors to sail more regularly and to meet with other members.  Informal short races may be arranged depending on the volunteers available.  There is no formal coaching on these events but friendly advice is often available from the safety crew  or other volunteers who share the aim of getting more folk onto the water and having fun.

Please contact the fleet captain if you have any questions.
