Despite challenging high winds on Saturday that lead to a suspension of racing for the day and the cold and wet on the Sunday, the whole event was a great success for all involved. Volunteers from OSC club members as well as members of Oxford University Dinghy Team worked along side the RYA and event management company KSail to deliver one of the UK's biggest youth team racing events of the year.
The club received some great feedback from both the RYA and the Eric Twiname Trust and we are already working on dates for next year.
Bruce Aitkens, Secretary of the Trust said "On behalf of the trustees of the Eric Twiname Trust please also accept our gratitude - to you and your team of volunteers - for hosting this team racing event.
There are very few places in the country with the facilities you have that are allied to such wonderful spectator viewing, which of course is fundamental for team racing.
It was a very satisfactory weekend, notwithstanding the strong winds on Saturday and the subsequent rain. The latter did not seem to deter the competitors and on Sunday we saw some of the closest racing ever witnessed at this event - and all to an ever higher standard."
Many thanks to those involved.
