SBO

Safety Boat Officer

A person who holds the RYA Safety Boat Certificate and a valid First Aid Certificate.  The SBO should be physically fit enough to lead in the recovery of a non-responsive person from the water.

SBC

Safety Boat Crew

A person who is physically fit, uninjured, and capable of assisting with the recovery of a non-responsive person from the water.  Preferably, the SBC also holds a first aid certificate and RYA Power boat level 2.

Safety Boat

A power boat that is in use for the purpose of supporting on water safety.  This includes coaching, instructing and racing. The boat must carry all appropriate equipment and must be appropriately crewed for the activity.

PB

Power Boat

Any boat with an engine that is used at OSC, includes safety boats.  Anyone driving a Powerboat must hold the RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate or approved equivalent, or be under instruction with a PBI in the boat

PVPatrol Vessel Patrol Boat or Patrol Vessel are terms used by the RYA in race management documents.  OSC operates fully equipped Safety Boats which are operated by people who hold the RYA Safety Boat certificate.
