Club Racing for Sailing Dinghies

Club racing at Oxford Sailing Club is open to all members and their guests.
Racing for sailing dinghies takes place throughout the year on almost every Sunday and is open to all classes of dinghy with a current Portsmouth Yardstick. Racing also takes place on Wednesday evenings during the warmer months of year, i.e. from April through to September.
Club racing is a real opportunity to hone your sailing skills, meet other members and generally enjoy yourselves. It does not matter what age you are or how experienced, there will be a warm welcome from all our members and a guiding hand on the water if required.
If you are new to sailing, or have just joined us after learning with OSTT next door and want to take your sailing further but don't want to join in the main club racing, then we have Novice and Casual racing. This generally takes place on the first Saturday of the month during the summer months. This caters for sailors who are new to racing or prefer a more relaxed, informal and supportive racing environment. It provides an opportunity to build confidence and improve skills, with a focus on learning and enjoyment.
For our junior members; aged eight to eighteen and with a sailing level of RYA Stage 2 and above; we have our Tuesday evening Pirates training sessions; bookable through the club web site; which provides a structured training format to introduce juniors into sailing through skills and drills, fun and games and short races according to the competence of the participants. There are additional sessions through out the year, contact Tom Cochrane for more information.
In addition to the club racing, OSC also hosts Open Events for individual dinghy classes and specific events such as the 'Eric Twiname Youth and Junior Team Racing Championships' and the 'Sailjuice' Oxford Blue winter handicap event.

The Eric Twiname Youth & Junior Team Racing Championships is a prestigious two-day team racing event for young sailors. It brings together youth and junior teams from across the country to race in a fun and competitive environment. The event typically involves a large number of races, showcasing teamwork, strategy, and sailing skills.

RYA Pathway Club programme;
Oxford Sailing Club has applied to become one of the RYA centres of excellence for the new Pathway Club Programme for junior racing. The Pathway Club scheme is a new programme to identify and develop clubs around the UK, aimed at making junior racing more affordable, accessible and engaging that creates fun racing in an accessible environment where young racers can develop great fundamental skills and feel part of a bigger team.
