Adult Dinghy Training

Sat 17th October, 09:30-12:30

Dinghy sailing session for members looking to develop their skills and enjoy being on the water.

Training is provided by RYA instructors and focuses on building skill and confidence in boat handling, seamanship and racing from novice/rusty up to intermediate level.

Typically we will run one or two groups taking account of numbers, and desired activities / levels of the participants.

You may use your own boat or club boats for the session. The decision on which boat to sail will be made by the instructor taking account of your preference and the conditions on the day.

Getting the most from your session/ what to expect:

  • Keep an eye on the OSC Adult Dinghy Training WhatsApp group for updates.
  • Please try to arrive on time for registration
  • We'll meet either at the back of the building overlooking the boatpark or inside depending on the weather...
  • We'll have a briefing ashore before going afloat and a de-brief when we return to land.   Please do ask any questions you have about the sailing at these times.
  • We'll usually spend about 1.5 - 2 hours afloat.
  • For the Autumn / Winter we strongly advise good clothing e.g. a wetsuit and wet boots as the weather is getting cooler, and a rainproof top as a minimum.

Please also note, in booking you:

a) Confirm that your medical and emergency contact information in your Profile are kept up to date.

b) Consent to (i.) your details being held by OSC (they will not be passed to other organisations). (ii.) any treatment or medication being administered where necessary and for transport to hospital and any necessary treatment being carried out. You will be notified as soon as possible of any such treatment. (iii.) the use of any photos taken by OSC for marketing & its website.

c) Confirm that (i.) the booked individual does not suffer from any medical condition which could affect their safety or others whilst taking part -we will assess each case on its merits as needed. (ii.) that if the booked individual is using their own boat/board, that it is is in good repair and has third party indemnity cover of at least £3,000,000.00 (if applicable).

We look forward to seeing you all on the water!
