Oxford Sailing Club; BOXING DAY PURSUIT

Boxing Day Pursuit Race
Feel the need to escape the family, work off that extra portion of Christmas pudd or tell your fellow sailors what you really wanted for Christmas?
That time has arrived, the water is fresh, the wind brisk and you need to make your self available for this annual festive sailing extravaganza.
The Boxing Day Pursuit is a fun and competitive sailing event held on Boxing Day (26th December). It is a pursuit race where boats start at staggered times based on their handicap (RYA Portsmouth Number), aiming for all boats to finish together. The slower boats start first, followed by faster ones at intervals. The race typically lasts 80 minutes, and positions are logged at the finish.
After the race, participants often gather in the clubhouse for mulled wine and mince pies. It's a great way to enjoy some festive sailing!
