AUTUMN SERIES 2026

4th October 2026, 09:30 - 14:30  ·  FARMOOR 2

AUTUMN SERIES

Organised racing at Oxford Sailing Club comprises of two dinghy handicap races every SundayRaces are typically back-to-back, and the duration is between forty five and sixty minutes. It's a great way to enjoy competitive sailing and improve your skills!

The racing series comprises of twenty six individual races, sailed in three fleets based boat type and current RYA Portsmouth Handicap. This generally ensures reasonably fair competition and close sailing.

Here are the main fleets:

Asymmetric Fleet

The asymmetric fleet sail a windward leeward course.

The fleet consists of asymmetric boats with a Portsmouth Yardstick of more than 1005 {i.e. Vareo, 2000, etc}, which sail 3 laps; and asymmetric and non-asymmetric dinghies and multihulls with a recognised Portsmouth Yardstick of 960 or less (e.g., RS 700, D-One, Musto Skiff, 505, K6multihulls etc), which sail 4 laps:

Start time: 11:00.

ILCA Fleet

ILCA 7, ILCA 6 (Radial) and ILCA 4 rigs (formerly known as Lasers). There is a combined start for all three rigs, and all boats sail the same course and the same number of laps. You may choose to race in the 'Radial' fleet during the series or the ILCA 7 fleet during the series, but your points can only go towards one or the other.

Start time: 11:03.

General Handicap Fleet

There is a combined start for all dinghies with a recognised Portsmouth Handicap greater than 960 (e.g., Contenders, Phantoms, RS Aero, Solos, Topper, etc).

Start time: 11:06.

If you are new to dinghy racing or maybe feel intimidated by club racing, don't worry, give it a try.

Talk to the sailors on the beach, they will be only to happy to give advice and assistance to you.

Providing the wind strength is within the 20mph limit, borrow a club boat and join in with the racing.
