First, a Merry Christmas to all our members. At least it's looking better than last year, or I thought so until speaking to a JR doctor this morning... As those of you who have read our Annual Report and have been at the Club will know, we've managed another very active season for sailing and windsurfing, with events also returning to the calendar. We are beginning our planning for next season - activities, events and projects. More on all these in the January newsletter, except to say that we will be replacing our aged Pico fleet and to this end have two RS Zests on demo until about 22 December and a Hartley H10 for longer - youth feedback on these would be very welcome. Contact the Commodore (David) or Training Principal (Adrian) on membership@oxfordsailingclub.com

Alas there are no Christmas lunches at the Club and this is the second year we have not been able to applaud members' Club racing efforts in person. However, the race mechanism for Club (sailing) racing has ticked over remarkably well. Steve Gould has quested for volunteers to fill the race support teams; they in turn have managed the races and the new start system (special thanks to Richard Hall, Peter Doran and Geoff Worrall. John Lee has heroically published Sailwave results, sometimes twice a week, and Chris Pinner has for the last few months undertaken the task of collating winners, engraving cups and securing additional prizes. Our earlier call for the return of trophies produced a big harvest - one thing the Club does have in abundance is silver plate. In fact a couple of items had not been seen for years and there were emotional reunion scenes in the Club office. This means we have a lot of prizes to award, or Chris's garage will be full (mine's already full before you ask).

We'd like to give members the opportunity to admire and polish their cups over winter if they'd like. To this end, we'll be in the Club office, or probably outside, to hand prizes out ! changed to Sunday 16 January! ,after Club racing, from 1:30pm. An Excel sheet of prize-winners is attached below. You don't have to be first to get something - the number of prizes is based on the size of the fleet. We've thought about whether the silverware goes to last season's or this season's winner. As last season was a reduced one, we'll be allocating the cups to the most recent winner, but swaps can surely be arranged. We will probably repeat the handout session in January, Covid and weather permitting.

Meanwhile enjoy the break!
