60 Years Chasing the Wind
Published 16:23 on 26 Apr 2026
To celebrate our 60th anniversary of Club racing, our figures on the water will share their stories with OSC through a new video series. In episodes of 2 - 5 minutes, members reflect on their personal sailing journeys and what this community has brought to them.
From royal visits to international championships, OSC remains more than just a club; it is a water sports family, sixty years on and still chasing the wind.

Our story began on 24 April 1966, when Oxford Sailing Club held its first race at Farmoor Reservoir under torrential rain. Sixty years later, the club remains undeterred by the weather, driven by a shared love for the water and a vibrant community spirit.
Founded by first Commodore Tony Hudson, OSC established itself as a premier racing club. Over the decades, we have traced the winds evolution—from traditional dinghy sailing and windsurfing to the modern "flight" of wingfoiling. Our club continues to evolve, fostering a diverse and inclusive community where everyone can discover the joy of being on the water.
