NOVICE AND CASUAL SAILING THIS SATURDAY
Published 13:38 on 2 Jul 2026
The inimitable Tony Bell, is hosting another Novice and Casual Event this Saturday {4th July 'Tony's Independence Day'}. In his own words, " This FREE, fun event, is open to everyone at the club regardless of age or ability. Lots of prizes on offer, presented on the day".
A lot of people get concerned that racing is difficult, just consider it as fun day out with lots of other like minded people sailing around in a big circle, much more fun than going out on your own. As everyone says, the way to improve is time on the water.
The first race is at 11:00 after a briefing at 10:30 by the club house. There will be two twenty minute races back to back then in for lunch and a chat. A quick briefing again at 13:30 before returning to the water for some more fun followed by prizegiving at 15:15ish. If you have other more pressing engagements on Saturday, but would still like to sail, you can join in just for the morning or afternoon.
The water is now almost tropical in temperature, we have guaranteed a good breeze. This really is a good time to dust off that old boat cover, get on the water and enjoy the purity of motion by wind kinetics with lots of other sailors.
If you would like to take a club boat out, don't forget that you need to book it out. You can do that from the comfort of your arm chair at home via the club 'Portal', or on the day using the ipad in the corridor at the sailing club.
We look forward to seeing you this Saturday.
