Lockdown 3 temporary closure

Dear Members,

We are sorry to announce that Oxford Sailing Club is now closed until further notice to comply with the current lockdown.

Thames Water has opened the site to locals only, with security on the gates and at reservoir level to ensure compliance. People would be asked to keep moving. Model boating won't be consistent with this so please don't try it. If the site does open, the café may be able to offer a takeaway service. TW will review weekly and we will announce major changes by email and minor changes on the OSC website. There will be a Commodore's newsletter in the next few weeks.

This means:

1. All on-water activity is suspended: the water is closed to all members;

2. The clubhouse is closed, including the toilets;

3. You should not access the boat park for maintenance;

4. No club equipment may be used.

The Waterside Café will remain open for takeaway service only (subject to change).

The situation will remain under review by our own committee, our landlord Thames Water and the RYA and we will respond as soon as possible in the event that Government advice changes or is clarified regarding sailing & windsurfing. However, for the time-being please do not take to the water, even for independent exercise. We expect the site to stay open and you will be able check your boats etc while you exercise but please do not carry out any boat maintenance at the club.

The current RYA advice can be found here.

Let's get through this and plan for a proper return to the water as soon as possible. We wish you good health meanwhile.

David Oughton, Commodore & The OSC Committee

We will update you with any change asap.
