Conclusion of the Summer Series Racing

Published 23:44 on 29 Sep 2025
What an absolutely amazing summer we have experienced at Farmoor this year; endless sunshine, great wind and plenty of enjoyment. Which makes it even more unbelievable, that we have come to the end of the OSC Sunday Summer Series.
One-hundred and ten competitors sailing in ninety-six boats, competing in twenty races over ten weekends. 'FABULOUS'
So congratulations go to the following winners in each fleet;
ILCA 6: Peter Doran
ILCA 7: Chris Pinner
General Handicap: Tony Thresher
Asymmetric Handicap: Michelle Brooks
As an aside, Tony Thresher, who not only convincingly won the General Handicap Fleet and the newly awarded Tony Brooks Memorial Trophy for his efforts, was the only competitor to compete in every race of the series. Peter Doran, was the next most consistent competitor, only missing two races out of the whole series. Moral of the story could be, 'You have to be in it to win it', or in Peter and Tony's case, just two very good sailors.
Despite 96 boats racing in the series, the fleet averages tell another story;
Average number of boats sailed per race in the series: Asymmetric Handicap (5.85 boats); General Handicap (8.95 boats); ILCA 6(4.9 boats); ILCA 7 (5.2 boats)
As well as congratulations to the competitors, I would like to thank everyone who made up the Race Management Teams, both on the committee boat and safety boats. None of the above would be possible with out your commitment and generously donated time and effort.
Many thanks to everyone.
