Weve got a month until the first Novice/ Casual race day, Saturday 3rd May.
To anyone who is new to the club, whether you are experienced or have recently just learned to sail N/C race days are fun day for everyone. They generally happen on the first Saturday of the month, from May to October.
I dont normally surface this early in the season, but there are a few club events coming up that you might be interested in.
This Friday at 6.30 we have a representative from the RYA to discuss the updated rules of sailing. It should be a good evening with all manner of rule scenarios likely to be discussed. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.
The evening before the first Novice race day, Friday May 2nd, Adam Bowers will be at the club again, with an interactive race clinic, giving his hot tips and tricks on racing strategy This is free to members and there is also a Barbecue which you can book for £12.50.
On the Saturday whilst we are racing, he will be giving a full days coaching, available to book for £29, but there are only a few places left. I know a lot of you went last season and found it very helpful, so please feel free to sign up.
This Wednesday is the start of summer evening racing, in which everyone is welcome to compete. Although this week it might be a quick dash around the lake as sunset at 7.40 and the race start is 6.45.
On 18th June, as part of this series, we hoping to run a Mid-Summer Special with prizes for each fleet include a racing start for the Novice and Casual fleets, and the possibility of a barbecue afterwards. Just presently this is in the planning stage, but we will keep you posted as the summer progresses.
Hopefully Ill see you around the club and on the water in the next month.

Novice Fleet Captain
