Its the most wonderful time of the year, Santa Claus is coming, snow is gathering all around and as Mariah-Carey famously sang,

All I want for..........Boxing Day! is your company and maybe a little voluntary help for the annual Boxing Day Pursuit Race. 

A pursuit race is where boats start at different times based on their handicap ratings, rather than all starting together. The goal is to have all boats finish at roughly the same time, making it exciting and fair across different classes. 

Heres how it works: 

• Each boat has a handicap number  (based on the Portsmouth Yardstick). 

• The slowest boat starts first, and faster boats start later according to their handicap.

•  The race lasts 80 minutes, and the winner is the boat that is ahead when time runs out. 
• The start time will be 11:00 hours on the 26th of December.

Make sure you bring some mince pies and milk for a cupper as the canteen will be closed and we can all huddle around the embers of smouldering paddle board.
